What do we mean by Education?

"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world."
A saying of an iconic and revolutionary politician and leader 'Mr. Nelson Mandela' is now seems to be a noneffective quote. No doubt it is not at all a futile comment or a useless word by the reformer. But the question is that, why do we have tons of problems around us despite of having more number of literates?Have we really understood the meaning of education?
It seems a big NO.
William Deresiewicz said that, "The true purpose of Education is making mind, not career."
But the current scenario screams that majority is focused on creating wealthy career instead of healthy minds. Thus the mentioned thought has been leaving huge impact creating evil and ill society. World is turning out to be a materialistic market, where even humanity, relationship, religion and sects are preferred and given value on the terms of wealth.
